EICMA 2018: Not-to-be-missed New-Ins and Innovation

The German giant has expanded its range of vehicles with an impressive number of 6 new additions covering all the mobility sectors. Starting from urban mobility, BMW has introduced the new C 400GT, the second mid-size scooter of the brand designed to conjure up a powerful, low emission engine with the utmost of agility,  in urban trails and even for tourism. New-ins can also be found in the enduro sector, with the new F 850GS Adventure, a mid-class vehicle with maximum touring capabilities, enhanced by adjustable brakes to ride easily even in the toughest enduro conditions. As part of the GS legacy, the F 850 GS Adventure features also a redesigned line, with distinctive ‘GS-style’ features and details. Redesigned features can be seen also in the R 1250 GS Adventure, available also in its R 1250R and R 1250RS versions, all equipped with the most powerful BMW Motorrad engine ever built – a massive 136hp two-cylinder boxer with ShiftCam adjustable phasing system – allowing reduced fuel consumption and a 30-litre capacity. Enhanced connectivity systems, as well as various customisation options for design and performance, enable the most demanding riders to find their ideal travel companion, be it a tourism motorbike, a naked or a sport tourer. Good news also for lovers of top speed, as the S 1000RR has been unveiled to the public. This ultimate supersport motorbike has a reduced weight of 11 kg, 8 hp more than its ancestor and professional ABS system, which all result in a 1-second less time on the track. Moreover, for the first time, lovers of the two wheels can take advantage of a M performance pack, with 9 packages options and motorsport colours.

The world of enduro has been enriched by the new Ducati 1260 Multistrada Enduro, conjuring up the lines of the elegant and functional Multistrada with enduro technologies such as adjustable suspensions. This new Multistrada model is also available with a 950cc engine. One of the most iconic models – the Diavel – has now been equipped with a powerful Testastretta DVT 159hp 1260 cc engine combining the impressive performances of a large-size naked with the comfort of a muscle cruiser. Talking about World Premieres, the EICMA fair has been the preferred stage to introduce the latest Panigale V4R 2019, the top sports bike by the Bologna-based brand, featuring a lightened design with carbon elements based on the design of the Moto GP prototypes, aerodynamic packs and a new Desmosedici 1100 cc engine. The Monster 821, as well, has now been introduced in its Stealth edition, with a quickshifter up&down transmission and a newly introduced Kayaba adjustable fork.

EICMA is the backdrop for new models, but not only. Yamaha has given a new look to its hyper naked MT-10, now available in the brand-new Ice Fluo shade, which adds up to the evergreen Yamaha Blue and Tech Black style. The recently introduced Niken (issued on the occasion of EICMA 2017 in the Phantom Blue shade) is now available in its GT version enhanced by a stylish Nimbus Grey colour. Lovers of enduro and outdoor rides can find their share with the new Téneré 700, featuring a minimal design and innovative suspensions adjustable while pressed and a brand-new, efficient fork.

As for the previous editions, a special focus has been given to eco-friendly solutions which include electric vehicles, from mopeds to bikes, push scooters and even motorbikes and spare parts alike. Following this concept, Harley Davidson has branched into electric by introducing its LiveWine electric scrambler, conjuring up the distinctive Harley Davidson design, innovative lines and a green engine. A whole pavilion, no. 22 has been devoted to the innovative eco-friendly solutions, featuring a meld of startups, emerging brands and well-known factories. Safety as well is key: from special airbags designed to fit in all racing suites, both for him and for her, like the ones designed by Italian brand Dainese or Alpinestars to uber-technological helmets both for the circuit and the urban roa
ds, innovation in the matter of safety is at home at EICMA.
