Here is a selection of the most important events spread over various locations within the city. 


12 June – Concert for Milan by Filarmonica della Scala

A free, open air symphony concert dedicated to the city and carried out by the Filarmonica della Scala. The concert is leaded by great conductor Riccardo Chailly and supported by international piano star Martha Argerich.

12 June – Summer Party at Villa Necchi Campiglio

Organised by FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano), the Giovani Milano Summer Party is a reference point for Milanese events featuring a cocktail party at the exclusive Villa Necchi Campiglio with live music and dj set at the pool side of the property and at its gardens. During the party the villa is open to the guests.

17-18-21 June – Festa della Musica free concerts

Two days of music inside Forlanni Park and one in Piazza Affari with free concerts ranging between the different genres of electronics and jazz music, involving also crews, locals and emerging talents.

18 June to 13 July – The Rythm of the City, Milan’s Jazz Festival

Milan’s Jazz Festival “Il Ritmo delle Città” offers an unmissable line-up of concerts. A roundup of dates with national and international artists set against the evocative backdrops of the Botanical Gardens in Città Studi and Villa Simonetta. 21 June – Make Music Milan street performances

For one day artists and musicians can organise their own performance turning Milan’s streets, squares and parks into their own stage. Three hourly sessions are planned which will touch lunchtime, happy hour and after dinner.


24 June to 22 January – Escher exhibition

The exhibition starts from the liberty roots of Escher’s figurative culture, going through his love for Italy and his trips to the Alhambra and Cordoba. The exhibition also gives highlights of the shift of the artist’s style towards a more mature production.

25 June to 29 September – Exhibition on Contemporary Art by Emilio Isgrò

A major retrospective exhibition, curated by Marco Bazzini and dedicated to conceptual artist Emilio Isgrò, will be held simultaneously at several sites across the city.

26 June – Music Festival at Palazzo Marino

This is the first free concert of the Palazzo Marino in Musica programme offering six months of music and entertainment at the seat of Milan’s municipality. The programming features a journey into the 19th century music through Schumann’s point of view.
The concert starts at 11am. Tickets can be booked online from 2pm of the Thursday before the concert or reserved at Milan’s tourism office InfoMilano.

30 June to 3 July – Festival Mix Milano LGBT Movie Festival

Four days of movie screenings, events, literature and music held at Piccolo teatro Strehler providing highlights on queer, LGBT culture and its evolution throughout the years.

1-3 July – Terraforma festival

An international festival of music dedicated to artistic experimentation and environmental sustainability. Three intense days of live performances, workshops and talks with artists while steeped in nature.

Until 7 July – Flamenco Festival in Milan

The ninth edition of Flamenco Festival features seven days targeted at the safeguard and promotion of the Flamenco culture. This year’s edition is structured around the themes of Identity, Dialogue and Integration.

12 – 23 July – Festival of Villa Arconati

The stage of this magnificent villa, also known as ‘the small Versailles of Milan’ will be graced by a number of world-class artists including Diana Krall, Cat Power – William Fitzsimmons, Ian Anderson, Joan Baez, Francesco Guccini, Goran Bregovic and Cristiano De André.

29 July – Sting on Stage in Milan

Street Music Art, Milan’s brand new summer festival dedicated to live music is now coming to a close. Prior to Sting, guest of honour on 29 July, who is currently touring Europe with the 2016 edition of his ‘Back to Bass Tour’ featuring a line-up of his most celebrated hits – this month’s events calendar will also see performances by a roster of international pop stars.
