1. Riccardo Chailly Conducts at La Scala

On 30 January, Maestro Riccardo Chailly will be on the podium at La Scala to conduct one of the ten annual concerts performed by the Filarmonica della Scala orchestra. He will present Dmitrij Sostakovich’s Symphony no. 12 in D minor op. 112, a new phase of the programmatic work dedicated to the symphonic production of the Russian giant. The concert will open with the Suite for Jazz Orchestra no 1, followed by the world premiere of Carlo Boccadoro’s Concerto for piano and orchestra starring the young but well-established pianist Beatrice Rana. 4. Narrative Frames at Modern Art Gallery

5. Made in Italy Jewelry on Display

Featuring more than 150 creations, this exhibition traces the art of jewelry-making in 20th century Italy through chronologically ordered sections dedicated to new historicism, Liberty and Art Déco. 6. Winter at the Mysterious Baths

The Bagni Misteriosi in via Carlo Botta (Porta Romana district) have now opened for the winter season. The swimming pool has been transformed into skating rink where visitors can while away the hours by literally skating on water. Winter entertainment at the space includes shows, art workshops, theatre, music and magic that even kids will enjoy.

7. Roberto Bolle and Friends, ballet at Teatro degli Arcimboldi

8. Venetian Art by Broletto and Canaletto on Display

On 8 January, don’t miss a free-of-charge admission to the “Bellotto e Canaletto” exhibition. An impressive exhibition lasting until 5 March dedicated to the artistic genius of Antonio Canal, known as “Il Canaletto”, and his nephew Bernardo Bellotto, featuring paintings, sketches and etchings on loan from leading European museums and private collections. Venetian landscape painting seen through the work of two artists who transformed genre painting into the avant-garde movement that characterized the 18th century.
