Until 7 July visit “From These Hands. A journey along the coffee trail”, an exhibition featuring 42 images by revered photographer Steve McCurry. The striking layout, created by architect Fabio Novembre in the Sala delle Colonne of the Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia, interprets the sustainability project developed over the past 13 years in coffee-growing communities around the world captured through the lens of the American award-winning photographer in partnership with Italian coffee brand Lavazza.

2. Art Aquarium, a Tribute to Japanese Culture (Main Photo)

The art of gold fish, key element for the japanese culture can be fully appreciated at this one-of-a-kind exhibition. The Kingyos, symbol of prosperity and luck, become the star players of the aquarium, offering visitors in-depth insight into a unique form of Japanese art deisgned for Mr. Hidetomo Kimura. 3. Ortega Show at Hangarbicocca

From Thursday to Sunday (11am-11pm) at Hangarbicocca, until 8 November, you can visit the exhibition of sculptures, videos and installations by Mexican artist Damián Ortega, one of the most interesting and ironic shows currently on display and the artist’s first personal exhibition in Italy. Entitled ‘Casino’, it features everyday objects transformed into striking works of symbolic impact, exploring how regional culture can influence mass consumerism.

4. Leonardo, a Unique Performance

During Expo Milano 2015, a unique live ‘permanent’ event entitled “Essere Leonardo da Vinci. Intervista Impossibile” will be staged at the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia. Every Saturday, until 31 October (6pm), a one-of-a-kind theatre performance, developed by director and actor Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, will trace the life of the Italian Renaissance genius.

5. Alma Mater, a Visionary Art Project

A multimedia art project, by artist and composer Yuval Avital, in the huge Cathedral space of Fabbrica del Vapore.“Alma Mater” includes a forest of 140 loudspeakers with the voices of grandmothers from all over the world singing lullabies and traditional songs intertwined with seismographic sounds of the earth. Woven into the heart of the piece will be a new version of ‘Il Terzo Paradiso’ by renowned artist Michelangelo Pistoletto. Projections of former La Scala étoiles Liliana Cosi and Carla Fracci and a magic site-specif light design by Enzo Catellani enrich the work. The event will be further enhanced by performances by international and local artists, exhibitions and workshops. Until 29 August.

6. The Legendary Appeal of Italy

From the 16th century to the present-time, foreign artists celebrate the charm exercised by the monuments, landscapes and traditions of Italy through their works. At “Italia fascino e mito”, visitors can admire masterpieces by Van Dyck, Rubens, Picasso, Dalì, Andy Wahrol, Marina Abramovic plus many others besides. A stunning exhibit of paintings, sculptures, decorative arts and architecture set against the breathtaking backdrop of Monza’s Villa Reale, just a few kilometers from Milan. Until 6 September.

7. Italian Concerts

On 16 July, as part of the Estate Sforzesca extravaganza, the season of open-air concerts held in the historical ‘Cortile delle Armi’ of Castello Sforzesco, the Notturni Italiani festival pays tribute to Italian opera with ‘E lucevan le stelle’ performed by Opera Singers & the Milano Chamber Orchestra. The event will include ‘The Seasons’ by Vivaldi on 25 July, famous Italian hits of the Sixties on 18 July and traditional Neapolitan music on 24 July. Alternately, the evening of 31 July will be dedicated to unforgettable soundtracks by Ennio Morricone.

8. Benson, Guitar Virtuoso

On 12 July, head to Teatro degli Arcimboldi for the only Italy date of legendary American guitarist and singer George Benson. An evening designed to offer old and young alike the best of his repertoire featuring hits such as ‘Give Me The Night’, ‘Turn Your Love Around’ and ‘On Broadway’.
