3. Giotto’s masterpieces at Palazzo Reale

Giotto_Exhibition_Milan
The weekend is a great opportunity to discover Giotto. L’Italia, the spectacular Milanese Fall exhibition dedicated to the 14th century artist who transformed Italian figurative language. The exhibition features 14 works, mainly painted on wood panels, none of which have ever been shown in Milan before. An ideal trip that explores the various stages of this travelling artist’s work in Italy up to his arrival in Milan where he painted his last work which has unfortunately been lost: the frescoes at Palazzo di Azzone Visconti. It is, in fact, at this stately residence, now re-named Palazzo Reale, that the exhibition is mounted. Traces of Giotto’s artistic heritage are still visible both in Milan and throughout the rest of Lombardy, including San Gottardo al Palazzo, Chiaravalle, Viboldone, Sant’Abbondio in Como. Until 10 January 2016.
