Eicma 2019 reconfirms the interest of motorbike aficionados to the world of top speed. Yamaha for example, has introduced its brand-new YZF-R1 2020 – available also in its YZF-R1M version featuring carbon fairing and Ohlins performance suspensions – both powered by liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve, in-line 4-cylinder 998cm3 engines featuring a crossplane crankshaft. Among its key features, bikers can enjoy renovated aerodynamics thanks to new and more efficient fairing and new electronic features which include an adjustable engine brake. YZF-R1 is available in two shades: Icon Blue and Midnight Black. The winds of change also blow at Ducati, with two new superbikes: Panigale V4S 2020, with renovated aesthetics, lighter in weight though equipped with larger fairing and side flaps to help its 208hp Desmosedici Stradale engine perform at its best, and the new Panigale V2. The latter, which comes after the iconic Panigale 959, reminds the aesthetics of the V4, enhanced by a new ABS system, traction control and equipped with Brembo brakes. Honda, on its side, has introduced one of the most awaited new entries, CBR 1000RR-R Fireblade 2020 with a new frame and new 217.5hp engine inspired by the technologies of Moto GP, titanium exhaust powered by Akrapovič and – in its SP version – with Ohlins electronic suspensions and front Brembo Stylema calipers. Last but not least, the new Ninja 1000SX by Kawasaki marking the debut of Electronic Cruise Control, a Quick Shifter, integrated Riding Modes and new styling accentuating the new all LED lights and incresed connectivity.

The world of naked motorcycles is becoming increasingly rich thanks to new important additions, starting from the new MV Agusta Brutale 1000RR 208hp hyper naked, featuring the same chassis, engine and electronic kit as the 2018 Brutale Serie Oro but new aesthetics, in two shades. Always remaining at MV Agusta’s stand, bikers can admire – only as a concept bike, for the moment – the new Rush, inspired by the USA-born drag races and provided with an impressively-powerful acceleration. Another highly-awaited concept concerns the Aprilia Tuono 660, equipped with a 95hp engine. Talking about top performances, the new Kawasaki Z H2 deserves a special mention: equipped with a majestic 998cc four-cylinder supercharged engine, it is the most technically advanced and most powerful Z ever, with launch control and electronic cruise control, whose top performances are completed by assist and slipper clutch plus dog ring gearbox technology. Eicma 2019 has also been selected as the seat of the global preview of the Z900 2020, with new power mode selection, traction control and Bluetooth connectivity. The Bologna-based brand Ducati has enriched its collection with a new addition, the new Streetfighter V4, and two restylings – the Ducati Monster 1200s “Black on Black” and the Diavel 2020, available in total black “Dark Stealth” or “Ducati Red”, on its Diavel S version only. The top innovations of the Ducati Streetfighter V4 involve high, wide handlebars and feisty performance stabilised by sophisticated electronics lifted directly from the Panigale V4 and the ‘biplane’ aerofoils developed by Ducati Corse aerodynamicists. Innovations also include the new KTM 890 Duke R, with similar features to KTM 790 Duke, though with 121hp more, the restyling of Yamaha Tracer 700 and the new Triumph Street Triple RS, with powered engine torque and Euro 5 type approval.
