Lugano Festival (18 APRIL-30 JUNE) boasts a rich spring program of musical events featuring orchestras and soloists of international fame. Concerts are held at 8.30pm in the music room of Lugano’s Palazzo dei Congressi situated next to Parco Ciani.
Not-to-be-missed dates include 7 May featuring La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra with music by Strauss and Rhim, a concert on 15 May starring the Swiss- Italian Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy with pieces by Brahms, Dvorák and Korsakov on 15 May, a performance by the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Prague Philharmonic Choir on 19 May with pieces by Stravinsky, Messiaen and Beethoven plus a concert by the Chamber Orchestra of Europe on 23 May with music by Schubert, Mendelssohn and Beethoven.
