On 27 October the Archbishop of Milan Angelo Scola has officially announced that a visit of Pope Francis, scheduled to happen on 7 May 2016, in occasion of the 2015-16 Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy.
The last Papal visit to the city was Ratzinger’s in June 2012.
It was rumored that he would celebrate an open-air mass on the Expo site, but no official announcement was been made by the Vatican spokesman, until the Pope announced that the visit was canceled.
