Situated in front of Milan’s famed Teatro alla Scala, Palazzo Marino takes its name from Tommaso Marino, a Genoese banker who commissioned architect Galeazzo Alessi to erect the building between 1553 and 1558. Its courtyard is adorned by numerous statues, trophies and festoons. The ground floor of Palazzo Marino hosts the “Sala dell’Alessi”(completely renovated after the Second World War), boasting magnificent stuccos and frescoes. The Palazzo Marino is currently used as Milan’s Town Hall and houses the offices of the Mayor, the Vice-Mayor, the Presidency of the City Council, the General Secretariat and the General Management of the Municipality.

Since Expo2015, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday tourists can enjoy a tour of 45 minutes through the building’s 2 floors (ground and first floor) with an audioguide, available in 9 different languages. Audioguided tours leave at 10.30am, 11.30am, 2pm and 3pm. Available languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese, Arabic and Italian.
