This year the Auditorium di Milano presents itself as a place to breathe life and culture, not just music: a bridge to the sciences, the arts, cultures near and far, to contemporaneity and history. The 2022-2023 calendar of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano is full of novelties, combined with a musical programme of the highest calibre: some of the biggest names on the world stage will perform on stage during this season. Andrey Boreyko, who conducts major European, American and Australian orchestras, holds the position of Resident Conductor; Alondra de la Parra and Jaume Santonja are instead the two Principal Guest Conductors of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano.
Starting this season, the Auditorium will become a place of experimentation with an initiative curated by Chef and Maître Chocolatier Ernst Knam, who will be the protagonist of two “Concerti da gustare” (Concerts to savour). Another absolute novelty are the “Concerti Ristretti“: shorter programmes, to allow those approaching symphonic music to learn how to interface with it little by little, never renouncing quality.
The heart of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano’s programming is the Symphonic Season with 32 appointments: 12 pieces that have never been performed before, 2 international co-commissions, 6 debuts by important conductors, 15 internationally renowned soloists.
From 11 September 2022 (as usual on the stage of the Teatro alla Scala on the occasion of MITO SettembreMusica) until 12 June 2023, the artistic offer of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano will also include a series of reviews:
– POPs, for listeners to explore repertoires and composers from different genres;
– Music & Science, this year divided into three appointments, in the search for analogies between the worlds of Music and Science.
– Crescendo in Musica: Seven appointments that make up an exciting review dedicated to children, young people and their families.
– Musica da Cameretta A scenic space shared between adults and children to listen to a story through the voices of instruments and the sounds hidden between the pages of scores arranged for an orchestra of children and an audience of young spectators.
– Youth Symphony Orchestra, with students under 25 and Kids & Junior Symphony Orchestras and Amateur Orchestra.
– Musica da Camera at Teatro Gerolamo (in Piazza Beccaria), a ‘miniature’ stage in the heart of Milan, which will host concerts always on Sunday mornings at 11am. Eight appointments with the wonderful chamber music repertoire performed by the Solisti de laVerdi.
– La Sinfonica allo Studio at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, a series of three unmissable appointments dedicated to contemporary music.

Finally, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano dedicates its month of April to Sergej Rachmaninov, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth. A Festival (from 13 to 23 April) that traces the composer’s best production, from the Piano Concertos to the Symphonic Dances, associated with composers of his time, such as Edward Elgar, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. Four appointments in the company of the orchestra conducted by Claus Peter Flor with pianist Alexander Romanovsky to rediscover the extraordinary world of Rachmaninov.
