About the event

As always in the third week of November, this year Milan will have a week dedicated to books and reading: BookCity Milano 2022. A festival that follows a thematic format well known to the city of Milan, which loves to bring together tens or hundreds of important or minor events under a single theme – as happens for example with Design Week, Fashion Week, Art Week, or Beauty Week.
These are the numbers of the last edition of BookCity Milano, still marked by the pandemic: 1430 events, 260 venues, 348 publishers and various proposers and 1645 books presented in bookshops, libraries and public and private spaces.
An event that promises to involve the city, from the centre to the suburbs, with presentations and debates on high quality prose and poetry, fiction and art.
This year’s theme is “Hybrid Life”, to highlight the complexity of culture and the invitation to contamination. The programme of the even features workshops and meetings, some of which are held in key location in the city, such as Triennale di Milano, ADI Design Museum, Palazzo Reale, Castello Sforzesco, BASE Milano and many others.

Towards the BEIC-European Library of Information and Culture

This year’s event takes place in a year in which the design of the European Library of Information and Culture (Beic) in Milan will be chosen through an international competition.
A library-world of 36,000 square metres to be built by 2026 in the former Porta Vittoria station in Viale Umbria. Thanks to the presence of important collections, in physical and digital format, the BEIC will be able to document the history, culture, socio-economic reality and languages of the European continent.
