About the exhibition

The spaces of GAM – Milan’s Galleria d’Arte Moderna host Nairy Baghramian’s first solo exhibition in an Italian institution. Misfits is the new exhibition project of the Furla Series cycle, the programme of exhibitions promoted by Fondazione Furla and realised in collaboration with the most important Italian museums. The project summarises some of the constituent elements of the artist’s work: from the interest in crossing and rethinking the boundary between inside and outside, to the analysis of the relationship between the aesthetic object and the institutional framework that hosts it.

More about the artist

This exhibition presents some never-before-exhibited works by Iranian-born German artist Nairy Baghramian. The project is implemented for the third edition of the Furla series, undertaken beginning in 2017 by Fondazione Furla. Nairy Baghramian (Isfahan, Iran 1971) addresses the traditional themes of sculpture, creating structures that involve organic and mechanical elements, between artisanal craftsmanship and industrial production processes.
