The exhibition dedicated to Italian painter Giorgio Morandi presents a selection of his works from Italian and international collections, on show at Palazzo Reale. Realised with the scientific collaboration of the Museo Morandi, the exhibition will highlight the mental process and creative itinerary of the Bolognese artist famous for his still lifes. More than 30 years after the last review, the public will thus be offered the opportunity to understand the depth of his painting, the enigmatic power of his canvases and his ability to “touch the bottom, the essence of things”.
Giorgio Morandi’s symbolic universe, consisting of objects among the most common, chosen for their immutability, is a pretext for “dropping” a kind of diaphragm between the artist and reality. Even the motifs of his landscapes, were always inferred from visible reality: “I work constantly from life” (Morandi 1929-1930).
