About the Exhibition

Joel Meyerowitz, great master of contemporary photography, is the protagonist of the exhibition hosted by Leica Galerie Milano. Meyerowitz is one of the greatest protagonists of street photography, among the first to make color an essential element of his artistic language in the sixties and seventies of the last century.

More details

The exhibition – curated by Karin Rehn Kaufmann, with the adaptation of Denis Curti and Maurizio Beucci – presents fifty photographs taken in different countries and in many cities, representing the most decisive periods of Joel Meyerowitz’s career. They range from images captured on the streets of New York – the perfect environment to observe life and people in the big city – to those collected during a year-long trip through Europe in 1966/67. Finally, those from when Meyerowitz returned to the United States, where color became an even more important element for him.
