The PAC Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea is hosting the first monographic exhibition in Italy dedicated to the visionary and poetic research of the Italian artist Yuri Ancarani (1972), whose works are the result of an original and accurate blend of documentary cinema and video art. The exhibition aims to bring out the most authentic aspects of his production, revealing its different nuances and linguistic codes through a vast selection of past works and a new work conceived specifically for the PAC. For the first time, Ancarani’s films, which have been presented in the world’s major festivals and most prestigious contemporary art museums, can be seen united in a single venue, thanks to a selection ranging from his early works to the present day.
Ancarani’s work originates in a close relationship with reality, observed without judgement. His stories are always coherent, reality blends perfectly with fiction and cinema becomes the tool for reading and interpreting it.
