About the Event

The Milano MuseoCity event was created in 2016 to discover and raise awareness of the rich artistic heritage of Milan’s museums. Now in its sixth edition, Milano MuseoCity is organized in three days of exhibitions, meetings, in-person and online initiatives by the City of Milan, in collaboration with the MuseoCity Association.
More than 90 museums will open their doors (physical or virtual) for about 100 events: art museums, history museums, science museums, house museums, artists’ archives, archives and business museums. Extraordinary openings, guided tours, conferences, meetings and special initiatives are planned. The main theme of this 2022 edition is “Le Stanze dell’arte” (The Rooms of Art).
This year Milano MuseoCity presents an important novelty: the event also involves the art and culture institutions of the nearby Lombard cities of Bergamo and Brescia (both Italian Culture Capitals 2023).

More details

Parallel to the Milano MuseoCity 2022 event, the “Secret Museum” itinerary is proposed: a review that expands on the theme of the “Rooms of Art” by recounting the exhibition halls of museums or historical buildings. Visitors are invited to discover unpublished architectural and decorative details, as well as historical or contemporary installations.

Among the various initiatives, we would like to point out: the extraordinary openings of the Sala delle Capriate of di Palazzo della Ragione (Bergamo) and the Casa Museo of Palazzo Tosio (Brescia); the guided tour of MUMAC – Museo della Macchina per il Caffè di Gruppo Cimbali, which celebrates this year the tenth anniversary of its foundation; the workshop proposed by the Museo Popolo e Culture PIME, in which the visitor can experience first-hand what it means to create a chamber of wonders; the online game of Fondazione Pirelli; the new temporary exhibition “L’inizio del tempo. Le ricerche spazialiste di Arnaldo Pomodoro” in the studio of the great Italian sculptor promoted by Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro.
