About the new spaces

The Shoah Memorial of Milan and the Fondazione CDEC-Centro di Documentazione Ebraica Contemporanea inaugurate a new library, agora and teaching room, creating a new history centre and workshop on the present.
These new spaces, which make the archival and library resources more accessible, make it possible to continually renew the contents, host exclusive materials, implement a new programme for collecting testimonies, and create training programmes and teaching modules for schools.
A place, therefore, designed on a user-friendly basis, suitable for those who want to learn about Jewish history, but also for those who are simply looking for a place to study, work, or devote themselves to learning more about history. The offers of the two institutions will be combined, creating a cultural centre for the city, a stone’s throw from the Central Station and the city centre.

From the words of a testimonial

“The Shoah Memorial, established for the remembrance of indifference, today takes another form and evolves, not only thanks to those who created this place from an architectural and historical point of view, but thanks to all the young people and people who, having visited it, began to remember. Now, therefore, it is not only a place of history and memory, but also of study and reflection: a place that gives the opportunity to rediscover both the past and the future, rich in knowledge, knowledge, curiosity and answers. This is the hope of us, the few left who have lived and intensely desired that place: a hope that we see fulfilled today in the candle of Memory and in that ray of future life that we have always longed for.” – Liliana Segre
