About the events

In November and December, the Auditorium di Milano seems almost like a space populated by magical creatures. “Fantastic Stories and Where to Find Them”, paraphrasing J. K. Rowling’s 2016 Fantasy hit, is the title of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano’s campaign for November and December programming. A journey that begins with the appointment on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 November, entitled “A Thousand and One Nights”, dedicated to Rimsky-Korsakov’s musical impression of the stories of Sheherazade, with Emmanuel Tjeknavorian and Luca Santaniello. This journey continues with the “Symphonic Tales” on Friday 2 and Sunday 4 December, in which the stories of Don Juan, with Richard Strauss’s Don Juan op.20, and Jean Sibelius’s En Saga op.9, a symphonic poem that evoked a fantastic landscape for the Finnish painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela, will be told musically. Crowning this peregrination of fantasy in music is “Parsifal”, on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 December, dedicated to the second act of Richard Wagner’s opera. With “Beethoven 7”, the protagonists are two composers whose lives are fantastic stories for posterity, so heroic as to seem like legends. We are talking about Beethoven and Šostakovič.  But it doesn’t end there. From the first two appointments of the “Musica da Cameretta” review dedicated to Gulliver’s Travels (6 November and 4 December), to the second appointment of “Crescendo in Musica”, dedicated to the delightful and touching story of Peter and the Wolf, to the POPsStar Wars & Classics” (20 November) and “Fantasia” (9 and 10 December) , the absolute crowning glory of this two-month period that gives wings to the imagination of young and old at the Milan Auditorium.
