Fondazione Stelline hosts “Plastic Appearances. From Plumcakes to Gianni Cella,” an exhibition showcasing the journey of Italian artist Gianni Cella, from the collective experience of Plumcakes to the individual.
The exhibition includes more than 20 works including paintings, sculptures and installations made between 1983 and 2023. It is an occasion to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Gianni Cella, one of the founders – together with Romolo Pallotta and Claudio Ragni – of the historic Plumcake collective: a group of artists who began their exhibition activity in 1983 with works made in fiberglass inspired by the world of comic strips and mass communication, reinterpreting pop stylistic features in a playful way.
