About the exhibition
The photo exhibition “Ri-Scatti” at PAC Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea aims to recount the complexities, the difficulties, but also the opportunities of life in Milan’s prisons. A reality which fuels the worst ghosts and arouses conflicting feelings of attraction and repulsion, fear and curiosity.
The reality of prison is told by prisoners and prison police: an 11-month course, 100 participants (including 60 inmates and 40 police officers), more than 50,000 photographs taken, 800 of which were selected to be exhibited, and unpublished and exclusive video material to tell the reality of prisons from the direct point of view of those who live in them and those who live them for work. These are the detention institutes in Milan involved in the project: Opera Prison, Bollate Prison, F. Di Cataldo Prison, IPM C. Beccaria.
