One of Australia’s greatest contemporary artists, Sally Gabori began painting in 2005, in her eighties, and has achieved international fame. She has developed a unique body of work characterised by vibrant colours that has no apparent ties to other aesthetic currents, particularly within contemporary Aboriginal painting. The exhibition “Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori”, which brings together some thirty monumental paintings from European and Australian public and private collections, is organised with the artist’s family and the Kaiadilt community.
Conceived and curated by Fondation Cartier and opened in Paris in 2022, the exhibition was an outstanding success, due to the extraordinary discovery of a powerful painting and the strong history of Sally Gabori, an artist whose work is deeply rooted in the traditions of his people.
