About the Opera
This year the Milanese ritual of the premiere of the Teatro alla Scala on the feast of Saint Ambrose resumes. After last year’s stop due to the pandemic, on 7 December the public will be able to attend the performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s “Macbeth”, conducted by Riccardo Chailly and directed by Davide Livermore, in its fourth inaugural performance. A new production of the Teatro alla Scala that sees among the leading actors Luca Salsi in the role of Macbeth, Anna Netrebko, Ildar Abdrazakov and the tenor Francesco Meli.

On the evening of 7 December, Milan and the La Scala Opera House are the ‘stars’ of an extraordinary premiere, on the Feast of Sant’Ambrogio, the Patron Saint of Milan. The inaugural evening of the opera season (the ‘Prima della Scala’) is an extremely popular cultural, institutional and social event, attended by VIPs from the world of culture, politics, fashion and show business.
