The exhibition “Visioni Metafisiche. Vasco Ascolini Meets Canova, Thorvaldsen and De Chirico” pays tribute to the Emilian artist Ascolini through more than seventy of his most significant works dedicated to ancient sculpture. The exhibition aims to emphasize the dialectic between ancient and contemporary, recreating a metaphysical atmosphere in the museum rooms.
Renewing its dynamic imprint as a home that opens to other collections, the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum offers an interesting dialogue between its own art-historical identity and the Pasquale Battista Foundation’s precious photographic collection. Vasco Ascolini’s photographs will be placed in relation, forming a silent and unprecedented dialogue, with works from the past, such as small marble heads, plaster casts by Antonio Canova and Bertel Thorvaldsen, and paintings by Giorgio De Chirico.
