After the success of its hubs in Florence, Rome and Turin, on 2 September 2021, even Milan has seen the opening of its own Mercato Centrale. Located inside Milan’s Centrale railway station, Mercato Centrale Milano is way more than a covered food market.

Spread over two floors on an overall surface of 5,000 sq.m, Mercato Centrale Milano hosts 30 taste stores, a fish restaurant, an organic market, a flour mill, as well as culinary laboratories preparing from ice creams to rice cooked in many different ways. Here, the spotlights are set on local food excellences and on the voices and visions of Milan’s artisans of taste. The spaces, featuring a modern and youthful allure, have been conceived to provide guests with a multifunctional environment where they can sit and read, eat, shop for food, listen to music, exchange ideas and opinions. In addition to hosting stalls where chefs, pastry chefs, and artisans of taste well known to the Milanese culinary scene prepare and serve delicacies, the Mercato Centrale also boasts a cooking school, a radio laboratory, and a space for meetings, exhibitions and readings.

The culinary offer stems from bread to pastry, from craft beer to traditional Chinese dumplings and bao, up to empanadas, ice cream, rice, truffle and other products, pizza, homemade cheese, fish and meat-based delicacies, handmade pasta and cocktails. The project involves also the participation of well-known names in the Milanese and international fine dining scene such as Joe Bastianich, Matias Perdomo, Jérémie Depruneaux, Davide Longoni and Agie Zhou.
