2015-2016 Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy and the Opening of the Holy Door: from 8 December 2015 until 20 November 2016

The Jubilee of Mercy is also known as ‘extraordinary,’ since it was announced (below video) only a short time before its beginning (13 March 2015).
Worldwide celebrations for the event start on 8 December 2015 with the opening of the Holy Door in St. Peter’s Basilica (Vatican), other cathedrals around the world will follow and open their doors starting from 13 December.
Milan makes no exception: the door of Milan’s Dome will be open on 13 December, and, like all churches participating in the Jubilee, they will become a “Door of Mercy through which anyone who enters will experience the love of God who consoles, pardons, and instils hope,” as Pope Francis announced.
The end of the Extraordinary Jubilee is officially set to happen on 20 November 2016, when the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica will be closed.
