On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Triennale Milano, the Museo del Design Italiano, directed by Marco Sammicheli, present itself in a revamped form from April 2023 with a new selection of objects and a new layout, designed by Paolo Giacomazzi Design Studio. The Museo del Design Italiano traces the 100-year history of the Triennale with an itinerary that starts from the foundation of the institution in 1923 and arrives at the present day.
Located as before in the Curva – over 1,300 square metres on the ground floor of the Palazzo dell’Arte – the Museum brings together over 300 pieces chosen from among the 1,600 that make up the institution’s collections and others on loan from important private collections.
The exhibition route will follow a chronological progression in which the objects that have made the history of Italian design will be accompanied by archive documents, historical photos, works of art and graphic designs by prominent authors. There will also be thematic installations that will host important projects and reproductions of interiors, where the story of significant cultural changes that involved Milan and Italy in the last century will be developed. Another new feature is the Design Platform: a space destined to host temporary exhibitions with a focus on today’s design and occupying the final portion of the Curva.
