Il Mercato del Duomo, Autogrill’s new cathedral of taste, is located in the heart of Milan, in the city’s most famous square. Designed by revered architect Michele De Lucchi, the space is located in the famed ‘Living Room’ of Milan, i.e. the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Extending over 5,000 square metres on four floors, it reflects various stages in the processing of raw materials as well as a range of eating experiences, from food in its most simple and natural form to products worked and transformed into recipes, some to be enjoyed quickly, others to be savoured more slowly.
The vertically arranged experiential path through Il Mercato del Duomo (whose entrance is highlighted by a spectacular bronze olive tree by artist Adam Lowe) features various concepts, such as the iconic Bar Motta, a perfect blend of the old and the new, offering coffee-based products and a top-level croissanterie and il Mercato, a reproduction of a traditional city market showcasing the food stalls of producers and local suppliers.
Other highlights include il Bistrot Milano Duomo whose widespread offerings, covering two floors, promote Italian regional products and the revival of artisanal techniques.
The most glam area encompasses the Terrazza Aperol, a trendy venue overlooking Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and a symbol of the traditional Milanese aperitivo, the Wine Bar and, on the top floor, Spazio, a restaurant-workshop run by three-Michelin starred chef Niko Romito.
