The Milanese branch of the historic Belgian luxury leather goods house recently took up residence in the heart of the Quadrilatero della Moda, in the city’s prestigious Palazzo Reina. This jewel-like boutique is set amidst hidden courtyards and historic palazzo. It is spread over a surface area of 200 square meters, in a setting that mirrors the aesthetics and tradition of the Belgian brand, a pioneer in the world of luxury leather goods, to perfection. The architectural concept of the space references 20th-century Milanese design, with curved cladding in Macassar wood, reminiscent of the artisanal craftsmanship of 1930s cabinetmakers. This look is combined with contemporary aesthetics and furniture inspired by Flemish architectural tradition, re-interpreted with a contemporary twist. The fixtures and fittings featured inside the store do not only play a decorative role, but also function as a showcase for Delvaux’s collections. An impressive bookcase, inspired by an iconic 1960s building designed by Luigi Caccia Dominioni in Milan’s Piazza Carbonari, hosts the Maison’s accessories, and a precious collection of 20th-century ceramic vases.
Founded in Brussels in 1829, Delvaux – the official supplier to the Royal Court of Belgian since 1833 – is a quintessentially Belgian Maison that invented what we know today as the ‘handbag’. The brainchild of Charles Delvaux, for almost two centuries, the brand has been renowned for its excellent craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail and uncompromising quality of its creations.
