The 2023 edition of the Fencing World Championship will take place in Milan and will be the last chance for the Italian team to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics. An event that will bring to the city all the representatives of the FIS-Federazione Italiana Scherma and bring together over 1500 athletes, 3000 technicians and staff from over 150 countries.
The last world championship before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will therefore be held in Milan, a city of sportsmen and women with a unique vocation for international events. The aim will be to bring more and more people closer to fencing through a programme of events preceding and accompanying the competitions in an area that has a large number of practitioners and fans.
Previous Italian editions
The Absolute World Fencing Championship returns to Italy 12 years after the 2011 edition in Catania. The first in Italy was held in Naples in 1929, followed by Sanremo 1936, Rome 1955 and 1982 and Turin 1961 and 2006.
