The exhibition explores the boundaries of a unique collaboration: nearly 30 years of uninterrupted artistic dialogue between Giorgio Armani and Florentine photographer Aldo Fallai. The artistic partnership between Fallai and Armani began in the mid-1970s, even before Armani’s adventure as a fashion designer, and then continued until the early 2000s and resumed in more recent years.
At the time of the first meeting, Armani is a young freelance designer determined to rewrite the rules of dress. Fallai accompanies him with his timeless images. The use of black and white in the photographs, and the resulting narrative abstraction, is the winning choice. While designed to showcase the collections, Fallai’s photographs focus on the character of the people, making the clothes a subtle complement to being, reflecting the designer’s idea that elegance is not about getting noticed, but about being remembered.
The exhibition, curated by Giorgio Armani, Rosanna Armani and Leo Dell’Orco, brings together in the Armani/Silos about two hundred and fifty shots, which appeared in magazines or were turned into posters with a strong media impact.
