The Olympic and Paralympic Games are the largest sporting event in the world, with an unprecedented media impact. 70 years after Cortina 1956 and 20 years after Turin 2006, the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are returning to Italy. The Games in Milano-Cortina 2026 will bring together 3,500 athletes from 93 countries and more than 700 Paralympic athletes and will be watched by more than 2 million spectators and 3 billion viewers worldwide. Sixteen Olympic and six Paralympic disciplines, spread over 18 competition venues, with a great novelty: the absolute debut for ski mountaineering at the Games.
The first Winter Olympics and Paralympics spread over an area of more than 22,000 square kilometres. Two cities, Milan and Cortina, with the support of two regions – Lombardy and Veneto – and two Autonomous Provinces, Trento and Bolzano/Bozen, are joining forces to realise a memorable edition of the Games.
The great theatre of the games in Milan is represented by these locations: the Meazza Stadium and Piazza Duomo for celebratory events, Palaitalia Santa Giulia and the Hockey Arena for Ice Hockey, the Forum di Assago for Short Track and Figure Skating.
