Two important innovations at Parco Sempione: the re-opening of the ‘I Bagni Misteriosi’ fountain by Giorgio De Chirico, inaugurated in 1973 in the gardens of Palazzo dell’Arte in Milan, to mark the 15th Triennial hosted that year.
The stone figures adorning the fountain have been repainted using vibrant acrylic colours, in keeping with the artist’s wishes.
The fountain, empty for many years, has now been refilled with water in a bid to ensure that its basin remains clean.
The second innovation is the renovation of Burri’s ‘Continuous Theatre’, a public work of art that the maestro created for Parco Sempione and a part of the city’s history for fifteen years, until its demolition in 1989.
