For the first time in history, the Codex Atlanticus by Leonardo da Vinci is available to the general public.
The world’s largest collection of works of Leonardo da Vinci is on display in Milan, in two different locations: Biblioteca Ambrosiana and Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie
The exhibits
A series of 24 exhibitions which, from 2009 until 2015, will be held in Milan in the Sala Federiciana of the Biblioteca Ambrosiana and in the Sacrestia del Bramante in the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where Leonardo painted the Last Supper. Focusing on a different theme each time, the exhibitions will be displaying all the 1,119 folios of the famous Codex Atlanticus, which was subjected to the delicate task of disassembly in 2009 so that it could be seen in its entirety.
1,750 drawings on 1,119 pages for one exhibition every three months.
