The Arco della Pace (Arch of Peace) is a triumphal arch located at the beginning of Corso Sempione in the western side of Milan. It is the first of Milan’s five newer gates, carved out along the Spanish ramparts, now demolished, and built in the 19th century in the large square behind the Piazza d’Armi of the Castello Sforzesco as a triumphal entrance to the city from France.
The area today represents a meeting place where people celebrate the typical aperitif and where to spend a pleasant evening in the bars and restaurants that sport large dehors during the summer season.
