“Nothing better than a carpet can help express the woven languages that connect men to history.”
Located in Milan’s most ‘artsy’ neighbourhood, the Moshe Tabibnia gallery (named after its founder) is recognized as a benchmark in the field of textile works of art, featuring sought-after pieces from all over the world. After crossing the threshold of this modern display space, you will immediately find yourself immersed in a world where the fabrics themselves take centre stage: carpets, tapestries, kilim and embroideries instantly capture the viewer’s attention on account of their sophistication and timeless appeal. Though resembling a museum, all objects are on sale and the museum prides itself on its ‘touch and feel concept’ enabling visitors to actually touch the textiles displayed, admire the intricacies of their working techniques and learn more about them. In fact, only here can you find the masterpieces of textile art worthy of museum pieces. Over the years, the gallery has been enlarged and now also features a workshop specializing in restoration and storage; a study centre devoted not only to the analysis of collector’s items but also to publishing initiatives and a library, the only one of its kind in Italy specializing in textiles, open to the public by appointment. Thanks to collaborations with leading international institutions, the gallery organizes and participates in numerous and diverse cultural events.
