The Michelin Guide 2022 has reconfirmed Lombardy as the region with the highest number of restaurants and gourmet hubs awarded with the prestigious Michelin star. The region, indeed, boasts the impressive number of 56 Michelin-starred restaurants, three 3-star, five 2-star and forty-eight 1-star, and four new starred. 16 restaurants can be found in the beating heart of Milan or in its surroundings. Enrico Bartolini al Mudec– 3 stars

After the nomination of Enrico Bartolini al Mudec as the only restaurant awarded with 3 Michelin stars in 2020, this prestigious aknowledgement has been reconfirmed even in 2021. The understanding of origins, creativity and the open-minded approach to the world and globalization, applied to the world of haute cuisine are the key to the success of the young and talented chef Enrico Bartolini. His own-name restaurant in the scenic location of Mudec-Museo delle Culture in via Tortona, and refers to his cuisine as ‘contemporary classic’.

D'O - 2 stars

Set just a short distance from Milan, in the city of Cornaredo, Davide Oldani‘s restaurant D’O has just won its second Michelin star in 2021 thanks to the creativity of his chef. The menus proposed by D’O are a well-balaced mix of technique, innovation and taste, enhanced by a touch of humour. Traditional dishes from the Milanese cuisine – but not only – are re-interpreted in a modern key and paired by a prestigious selection of precious labels.

The restaurant helmed by chef Davide Oldani has also been awarded the  green star, dedicated to those who have distinguished themselves in the promotion of a sustainable cuisine.

Il Luogo di Aimo e Nadia - 2 stars

The two stars awarded to historic restaurant Il Luogo di Aimo e Nadia have also been reconfirmed. Although husband and wife team Aimo and Nadia no longer head the restaurant, their style of cooking lives on in the cuisine of Alessandro Negrini and Fabio Pisani, two immensely talented chefs, who continue the tradition of its owners with a menu based on sublime regional Italian cuisine re-interpreted with an innovative twist.

Seta by Antonio Guida - 2 stars

The hotel industry is also renowned for its starred chefs, including Antonio Guida, who heads Seta, the multi-award winning restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental Milan. Pugliese by birth, the chef’s heart now beats for the city of the Madonnina, because it was here, at the world’s most starred hotel group that Guida received his first Michelin star, followed by a second star in 2017.

AALTO – 1 star

The panoramic position of the AALTO part of Iyo restaurant, located at the first floor of Torre Solaria skyscraper, is by itself worth a visit. The restaurant has won its first Michelin star in 2021 under the direction of chef Takeshi Iwai, whose menus titillate diners’ palates with new combinations of flavours aiming to achieve a balance between technique, research and taste, mixing and matching influences from Japan, Italy and Northern Europe.

Pietro Leemann – the owner and chef of Joia – is considered the guru of vegetarian food or, according to his own definition, of “natural haute cuisine”.
